Recipe: Corn Chowder
On Wednesday our Facebook fans were asked to vote for the recipe they’d prefer out of three options. With the arrival of the harvest and the great fruits and vegetables it brings, the theme for this month’s recipe choices was comfort food featuring seasonal favorites:
- Pumpkin Bread
- Corn Chowder
- Fresh Apple Cake
Although it was a close race, the winner is…Corn Chowder!
Here is the corn chowder recipe, taken from The Homestyle Amish Kitchen Cookbook by Georgia Varozza:
This is the perfect time of year for something warm, savory, and comforting. Tell us, will you and your loved ones be enjoying a hot bowl of corn chowder this season?

Bet it’s good but unfortunately corn is off my diet due to health reasons. Oh and I used to love it so much. Corn on the cob was my favorite.

Aw, I’m sorry to hear that, Shirley! Hopefully the next recipe we share will be something you can try. And thankfully, this season brings lots of different fruits, vegetables, and other meal options to enjoy.

I got a great recipe from Wanda Brunstetter new Amish Friends Christmas Cookbook for frozen peanut butter pie. I made it and it was very good. Great for Christmas time.

Ooh, that does sound good! Especially with some chocolate drizzled on top.

Heavenly, but you’d only need to eat a sliver at a time. It has a nice smooth texture but is rich.

I’m sure a sliver at a time would probably be best. But I confess that even with rich desserts, it’s hard to eat just a sliver!
