Monthly Gathering – August 2014
Gathering has a few different meanings, including “an assemblage of people” and “a collection, assemblage, or compilation of anything.” (Definitions taken from Dictionary.com.) I think the term fits well with our community theme, in addition to giving us a way to organize book- and blog-related news.
In the future, these posts will include an overview of the posts shared the previous month on the Amish Reader social media sites, so you can easily revisit your favorite moments and catch any features you might have missed. For now, though, we’ll simply focus on the other two aspects of this type of post: a gathering of recent releases and a gathering of book reviews.
A Gathering of Books
Since we’re starting fresh here at Amish Reader, we have a bit of catching up to do! Here are the 2014 Amish book releases (to date) from Harvest House Publishers:

Have you read any of these? Are any on your TBR (to be read) piles?

You can also share about some other Amish book releases you know of from the first half of 2014. Let’s make this a true gathering of thoughts and Amish-book readers!

I have done some book reviews this summer on Amazon under the name of Shi. I have reviewed Josiah For President by Martha Bolton and reviewed Woman of Courage by Wanda Brunstetter and Child of Mine by Dave and Beverly Lewis. I have also done some reviews for June Belfie . I’m not the best at reviewing books and enjoy reading them much better .

That’s understandable, Shirley! You generally have to approach reading with a different mind-set when you’re planning on reviewing the book instead of just reading for fun. But I’ve no doubt the authors appreciate you making the time and effort to share your thoughts on the books with others, especially on Amazon. Thanks for letting us know what you’ve reviewed this summer!

Michelle Dawn I have visited your Amish web site and have tried unsuccessfully to leave a comment. I have tried to post comments twice only to lose them both times. Also I had considered signing up for a news letter but noticed that there wasn’t a note stating that you will not give out or show my email address to the public so decided not to give out that information either . Thought that your web site looked very interesting.

I just wanted to say a big thank you for being available for all of us who have a keen interest in the Amish. The more we know about some thing or someone, the more we can appreciate it and understand it. It makes us want to learn more. Thank you, Thank you, Thank you!!!
